From Flat to the Power of Passion

by Kimberley on October 9, 2012

Lately I found myself feeling flat, numb, frazzled, and resentful. I have a habit of shutting down, withdrawing and disconnecting from my passion… I create a crust that can be tough to crack. When I react this way, I also disconnect from other people, from my vision, from the world itself, and, most critically, from my reason for being.

Does this feed my soul? NOOOOOOOOO!

However, it’s very familiar territory and I go there every time I’m on an edge of new consciousness… an edge that is outside of any prior experience. It’s a sphere with a plethora of possibilities, new connections, new opportunities, and expansion of my capacity to share my work with others. I make it all harder for myself when I disconnect... I turn my back on Source, hiss and spit at the divine, have a tantrum with spirit, sneer at the doing, and every part of my body contracts and closes, including my heart.

You may have heard Fannie Flagg’s quote, “Don't give up before the miracle happens.” There’s always a new miracle to experience and the crust, however you create yours, and you do, can keep you in your comfort zone.

Your comfort zone is NOT always comfortable but it is familiar territory and you know how to manage it… the same as you’ve managed it in the past. So, you know how to deal with it but why keep doing it the same way you always have? If you just repeat those old patterns and habits, your life cannot transform into the adventure of boundless freedom that is possible for you. In fact, you’ll continue to tell your old story. Nothing in your life can change when you perpetuate that habit and cling to what you know as if it’s all there is. Is it?

You are NOT your story and you CAN tell a new one… if you choose to do what it takes, and what it takes is actually much less effort than you spend clinging to what you already know. Believe me, I’ve clutched at what I know and had to learn that doing so holds me back. I can move forward kicking and screaming or I can soften and deepen further into who I really am. I committed to my soul to move forward, over a decade ago, and it’s a choice to do it with the least effort. I cannot do it on my own.

When I find that I’m stuck in my crust, I know I’m on a new edge that will make me more visible, and that can be terrifying, even when we want to share our work more widely with the souls waiting for our help. Some of you recognize this terror in yourself  but when you feel stuck, flat, numb, disengaged, or alone, reach out and get the support you need to move through it with less effort, and in the care of someone who knows exactly what you’re moving through.

My mentor and teacher holds space for me to be all that I am, lovingly honors me AND kicks my butt (although I use a different word for that) when it best serves me and my future. She has the capacity and gift to help me get unstuck and re-engaged. My mentor has her own teachers. No soul committed to telling a new story and transforming their life to help others do the same, to make a difference in the world, can do it alone! It can feel far too painful, and even impossible, when we try to do it all on our own.

You're never too old or too stuck in your crust to empower yourself to live the life of boundless freedom and experience your new life adventure. Feed your soul and open to expanded possibility. What's meant for you already exists... you can open the door & step right in... it's a choice.

From the sacred gypsy in me, with much love.
